My wife and I run a PW and our quest data is not being saved , and players have experienced that they are able to do the same quests after each server restart . The logs read no pwdata ??
Any help would be great as our usual tech guys is unavailable ( NWN2 )) |

You dont have the pwdata table in your mysql atabase. you can get the aps_demo mod from the vault and launch it via the nwnx.exe log into the mod and pull a lever and create the table. |

Off hand, I would say your query to update the pw table is failing. Without a log, probably near impossible to determine why. |

OK... perhaps I should explain a bit more... we have inherited this server and do not know much about what was going on ( except from a DM/Player standpoint ) So I have a few questions... Does it matter which version of MySQL I decide to download and use? Will different versions run the already written quests and tracking the same way? Which version is the easiest on system resources? Which is the most user friendly?
Will my system specs come in handy?

More experienced admins I know use 4.X and shy away from 5 as unproven, though I lack the knowledge to give a more in-depth explanation than that. I think the difference in userfriendliness is non-existant, so you really should be fine with whatever version you choose.

OK... been doing some checking... I now have MySQL v.5 but do not yet have it setup. Any ideas on how to do this easily? Is easy possible?
Where is this aps_mod? I have looked at NWVault and didn't come up with anything other than a mod that would my current server to HCR3.2... something I do NOT want to do at this time.
Would someone take a look at my above system specs and let me know if this system is good enough to do all this on? I should add that I have a 5Mbs DL and a 1Mbs UL.
Perhaps a link to the aps_mod?
Catch me on IM or I check here frequently... IM @ jkeller2791@hotmail.com |

Heres the link for aps http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Other.Detail&id=762
As for mysql I use 4.1 its easier to setup its pretty much just install and hit next a few times...make sure you choose to run it as a service and to setup a root password. After you install mysql you will either need to add the odbc2.dll file into your nwn directory or find and download the mysql.dll file from the vault I use the odbc2 myself. then copy the other files noted in the install directions for nwnx into your nwn directory. Open the nwnx.ini file and make the changes from using sqlite to odbc then load up the aps mod using nwnx2.exe it will then load nwserver and if you left the module name the same in the nwnx.ini file aps mod will load...login and use the levers to make the database. Close everything down open your nwn directory look for folder logs.0 check the odbc file for errors. If everything is setup correctly you should see where it created the database. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info and link... the server already had NWNx2 attached to it, I have inherited it from a friend that ran it for some time and then dropped it due to DM/Admin conflicts. It should already be set up to work with MySQL, but I am on it and checking for compatibility. |

All is good on the server now... at least as far as PWData. No to try and get some of the other things up and running without very much documentation. Thanks again to everyone that helped out on this. |
