{Response to a wish list post by chris421}
I'm currently achieving this via Griffin's Spawn plugin and a batch file. The Spawn plugin executes my batch file which copies all the nwnx4 log files as well as nwnserverLog1.txt, nwnserverError1.txt, and nwn2_server_errorlog.txt to a timestamped folder (created by the batch file: ) within a specified path.
This gives me with the ability to schedule timed log backups, backups on crash (via the nwnx.ini command option), and a function for backing up logs anytime in-game.
EXAMPLE: (this is what the resulting file structure looks like)
NWN2 (install dir)
|
|-logs
|-|
|-|-2008.04.08#12.00
|-|-|
|-|-|-nwn2_server_errorlog.txt
|-|-|-nwnx.ini
|-|-|-nwserverError1.txt
|-|-|-nwserverLog1.txt
|-|-|-xp_chat.txt
|-|-|-xp_mysql.txt
|-|-|-(etc)
|-|
|-|-2008.04.07#12.00
|-|-|
|-|-|-(log files)
If you're interested, I can fix up my batch file with some user options (such as source paths and filename lists) and post it here.
{EDIT} However, this does not delete the source logs ... There is a command that will move locked files (MV), but I haven't tried it yet. _________________ aka. twp_andrew

My "copy certain folders in and out of RAMDisk" is enough of a kludge already.
I'm not using xp_spawn.dll. And I don't want to add any more dll dependencies if they can be avoided, especially since it's unlikely xp_spawn would be able to delete the logs anyway due to the lock.
The log facility refining & standardizations I dropped on the wishlist should be core to the way all the nwnx dlls work, independent of any user batch files (IMHO). |
