|
|
Hey there,
I have installed NWNX4 running MySQL 5.0 and I gotta say it was a breeze to get operational.
But, I seem to be consistently getting an error when I launch the NWNX_Controller from gamespy.
I launch the controller and I get:
* Hook installed and initialized successfully.
* Warning: Server did not answer gamespy querry. 4 retries left.
If I let the server run and elapse all 4 retries, it still pulls the error w/ all retries. If I close the server client w/o relaunching the controller, the controller launches the server fine in it's second attempt. ie.:
* Hook installed and initialized successfully.
* Warning: Server did not answer gamespy querry. 4 retries left.
* Server process has gone away.
* Waiting 5 seconds before restarting the server.
* Restarting server.
* Hook installed and initialized successfully.

I'm assuming this if fairly common, since the nwnx ini file allows for and deals w/ this but my question is why does it seem to happen all the time w/ a first launch for me and why does it correct itself when I relaunch the client but not on it's own?
Has anyone else had this issue?
Other than that, nwnx4 is working great for me so far
Thanks! _________________ Cheers!

Hmm, you are talking about a "client"... which client is that, exactly ?
Can your post be summed up like this: NWNX4 restarts your server after the controller has been initially launched (because it thinks it does not react to gamespy queries), but after it kills and restarts nwserver, it stays up fine ? _________________ Papillon |

Hey Pap,
I'm refering to the "nwn2server" as the "client".
to answer your other question, "no" is the answer.
I launch the controller and nwn2server starts up fine and loads the module and all of the variables properly (server name, module and location) but I get the warning message.
If I do nothing and let the 4 'retries' expire, it continues to give me the warning after each retry.
If I manually quit nwn2server but not the controller and allow the controller to reload the server... it works fine, 1st attempt. _________________ Cheers!

Ok, got it now. From the top of my head, there should be nothing in the code that produces the described behaviour, but I will have a look at it again. I suppose you are using the latest version 1.06 ? _________________ Papillon |

I am using version 6 and this behaviour is consistent everytime I fire nwnx up... like i said, if I launch and then close the nwn2server, it reloads fine...
I did notice, yesterday and neglected to mention it, after the 4 'retries' expire, nwnx closes the nwn2server and upon relaunch, it works fine as well...
thanks! _________________ Cheers!

I had the same problem as well.
In my case was it a wrong port in the INI files.
I run the nwn2-server on a uncommon port and inside of the INI file was still the normal port.
Maybe your problem is similar. _________________ xaltos

Thanks Xaltos,
Can you give me an example of the port number you are assigning ie 5122 or 5120?

Just make sure your server and the nwnx4 use the same port.
Entry one is inside of the file nwnx.ini
and the NWN2 entrie is inside of file nwnplayer.ini
( --> [drive]:\Documents and Settings\[login]\My Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2 )
Code: |
[Server Options]
Game Port=5222
|
Port 5121 is the default port for NWN1, so I had to switch to a free port for my Beta NWN2 server. _________________ xaltos
