I have followed all of the tutorials you have listed. Thanks, I have found them very useful.

I appear to connect to the database just fine. In the administrator it shows service is running.

My problem is that nwnx will not start my mod. nwnx starts up, and the nwnserver starts, then crashes. Then is a instance of nwnserver running, but none present on screen.

On reboot, with nwnx auto starting with startup menu, the server program will try to start several times, each giving an error and there is multiple instances of nwnserver running on task manager.

I am using windows 2003.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have seen crashes of the NWServer too, but most of the time this was due to a configuration error in the nwnx.ini file. Make sure you have set up all plugins correctly in the configuration file(s, not all plugins are nwnx.ini file compliant).

btw. What plugins did you install?

I saw this problem with a mod I made. Would never load. Then I went in and read the error log and found that I was missing some HAKs and Talk files. Problem went away after that. I assume you started seeing like 5 or 6 copies of nwnserver running in memory?

That is one of the many possibilities regarding crashes. Also look in the nwnx log files for strange messages. Did you by the way test it with the included aps_demo module?

The nwnx will try to start the server, and the nwnx console will reveal a crash. There is a nwserver instance running on task manager. If I close the nwnx and stop the instance of nwserver that is running, and wait exactly 13 minutes or 780 seconds, and start nwnx, nwnx will start and load the module.

If I close the mod, same problem returns until exactly 13 minutes later.

I am using mysql with the obdc plugin. We are getting connectivity to the db just fine when nwnx does start the server.

I am using Windows Server 2003 Web Edition.

We have used the dependency tracker on all files in the entire nwn directory and no errors show.

We have run the dependency tracker on mysql, no errors found.

We see no errors on the event viewer.

There is another server running the exact same mod and db, using windows 2003. Basically the same setup as far as hardware. He does not experience this problem. We have been thru the services menu and security menu and matched everything to the server on mine.

We have reviewed all router settings and they match, even using same router.

I have made sure I have the latest files, dll's ect from this website. All are current to the day.

Edit - We have checked the error logs for nwnx.... all items connecting and running good. No errors.

Anyone have any ideas please?

Can you tell us if you can start NWN server itself and run the mod without any problems? (Without using any NWNX files.)

Try starting NWNX without any command line parameters, then add them one at a time.

Can you access your database with MySQL Control Center and actually get to the data base?

I'm thinking the 13 minutes may be the amount of time it takes to get your mod loaded. Does the NWN Server status line show Running Login at will, or Loading Game? If it shows running, can anyone connect before it crashes? If you can connect, have you tried other players/characters?

Do you have the same amount of memory as the other machine that runs ok?

What version of MySQL are you running?

Are you sure you have installed the propoer ODBC connectivty. The data base will still come up even though you have the wrong drivers.

NSServer will start fine and run any module on it's own.

Try starting NWNX without any command line parameters, then add them one at a time.

Only command line I am using is module and it is the same as when it will start after the 13 minute delay.

Yes, all is there and can query.

Mod loads in less than 15 seconds when it will start.
Loading Game, approx. 15 seconds later Running, Log in at will. When the nsserver crashes, the skin never shows on the screen. It creates a instance in the task manager with about 5k of mem, when it is up and running, the mem amount is around 77k.
Cannot connect, because it never loads.

Yes, 1.5 gig.

What version of MySQL are you running?

4.1.9-win32

We have checked and double checked. All tests are good from the mysql admin and the odbc set up skin.

Be sure to download the latest version of ODBC2. I believe Pap recompiled it against mysql version 4.1. And otherwise please post the contents of nwnx.txt and nwnx_odbc.txt in your log directory of that server instance (probably log0 or log1)

The logs do not record any entries at all for the server instance that crashes. The rest of the logs all look great. Connection good, list of all activity on server, et.

Looking into installing ODBC2 and see if this makes a difference.

Also going to place a delay on NWNX starting after reboot. Maybe this will help. Just trying to think of what could be causing this and trying to eliminate or isolate when or where it happens.

OK Have narrowed it down alot. What we have determined is that the security permissions is apparently what is causing this delay.

I can try and start the server with nwnx, and it crashes.

I can then open the properties on nwserver, and LOOK at the security settings, not making any changes. Close that dialog box and poof server starts.

I am sure what is causing this has to do with permissions.

It is Server 2003.

Any help is much appreciated.

Are you trying to run it off the Admin account or another account? Have you tried setting up another user account with near admin powers and then using that user to run the server? You can specify executables to run in 2003 under different users...you might want to try that and see if its a permissions problem with the admin user.

Does your server have hyperthreading. If so try to disable it. There is a setting where you can disable it I just dont remember off the top of my head where it is.
