How do the NWNX2 devs in the crowd feel about hardcoded addresses as opposed to searching memory for patterns? I'm just curious to get a community consensus on this. _________________ Win32 SVN builds: http://www.mercuric.net/nwn/nwnx/

Usually I use absolute addresses in experimental plugins and signatures in stable plugins. With the final patch the signatures aren't a necessity anymore. |

Not really; there's very little point in changing existing code to use addresses. It's easier for developing new things, though, as creating and checking a pattern takes more time than just finding the right address. For something with a lot of addresses (read: acaos's plugins ) it really adds up.
I won't worry TOO much about creating patterns for everything, then. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't an unspoken law about it. _________________ Win32 SVN builds: http://www.mercuric.net/nwn/nwnx/
