Subject: Alpha release ODBC/MySQL extension soon available!
Soon the new and rewritten ODBC/MySQL module will be released to the public. Mind this is a stable ALPHA release. After finishing the documentation it will be released. Main features are:
* Combined ODBC and MySQL support
* Easy configuration
* Custom DNS name support
* Slight performance increase
Please test this new module and let me know your findings, so that I can solve the bugs and implement your ideas for the final release.
Thank you!
IMPORTANT!
Mind that users with the nwnx_mysql module need this update too, as the current nwnx_mysql module will not be supported in the future. Bugfixes will be done only in the new nwnx_odbc module! |

Jeroen,
did you update the mad code hook library as well ? The next NWNX will use the current version of it. On the other hand, you might want to wait a bit till the new version of NWNX is released, since that will be the only module including the necessary dll madchook.dll

I used the latest mad code hook library which was available a week ago. But that shouldn't matter for this new nwnx_odbc module. |

Greetings Guys, as Jeroen will tell you, I extensively tested the odbc replacement stuff for him initially, then some RL issues came up. I am just wondering where this is headed properly now, and have the issues I ran into intially been sorted out?
Thanks in advance. _________________ Makzimia De Graf

Currently my windows machine bugs a bit, I assume it has something to do with McAffee as it resulted in more troubles in the past. When I resolved that I will release the stuff.
Regarding the problems of Makzimia, those should be solved by now. I tested the module heavily by continuosly loading in 100 rows of data from a database and running it a couple of hours with a large world. I noticed no memory leaks or strange behaviours (remember to minimize the server window once in a while, which greatly reduces your memory usage).

Thanks Jeroen, we did in fact see the improvement in memory on the last one I tried, remember? but, the issue was that some data was not being written to the DB. I asked you at the time, if your replacement was expecting something specific in aps_include, if it is, or less complex data table calls than what we use, it will still be an issue for me. I did if I recall, send you a copy of my tables, and, of my aps_include at the time, I am sure you have been VERY busy, and lost track of this, so, just a reminder. If you need access again to check, I can do this.
Thanks,
Makz. _________________ Makzimia De Graf

Hi Makz,
Could you please send that information again. I have had several crashes in the meantime, so I lost all my old mails . Since I installed McAffee my system isn't so stable anymore as it was before.
But as a real dutchmen would say: it's a waste of money to remove it already as I paid for it

Initial testing is good, 2 more things that are a MUST test still to come, then, I'll let you know the outcome.
Just need to get my crew on the test server for a bit.

Yet to see how it handles a strain of tables being given a beating, but, I am most pleased!. Nice work guys, all working as far as we can tell for the first time.

5 Crashes in about 5 hours, never done this before, I can only assume something is amiss with using this new version, and I am rolling back to using ODBC based. I can't afford my PW to crash every hour when traditionally it is up at least a day between loads for changes etc. No errors reported, but, it is definitely less stable, and crashes within minutes even of a reload on a 5 second reload wait. _________________ Makzimia De Graf
