I have never given much thought to this but what are the read write access times for nwnx2. The reason I ask is a friend is useing nbde and wants to know if nwnx2 is faster. Does anyone know. I saw nothing in the documintaion.

Section V - Speed comparison
MySQL and NWNX have changed since then, so I think it's even faster now.

Results:
Database Write Read
SQLite (1) 30 ms 20 ms
SQLite (2) 36 ms 20 ms
SQLite (3) 2800 ms 20 ms
MySQL via ODBC 71 ms 38 ms
MySQL direct 68 ms 22 ms
Bioware DB (4) 856 ms 10 ms

This quickly was the times I got for the various data base types. I got asked about MSSQL ware about in the results might that fall into. Also is the info on SQLite 3 correct 2800ms.

One other question I'm sure its been asked before... if they wanted to use MySQL what all do they have to get/ Download.

Looking at results I feel SQLite (1) seems fastest for r/w, but lately everyone seems to be realy talking up mysql.

Any info would be of great use.

I still use MS Access through windows xp Data Sources ODBC, and SQLite on a windows xp PC, Its been great for my programing but I feel its probly lacking as far as a server goes. And the dial up well thats a six letter word...

NBDE is much faster than BioDB, but SQL is much faster still. A bigger advantage of SQL is result sets: you don't have to read variables one by one, you can easily fetch a full record all at once, i.e. rather than individually Getting 10 results about a PC, you'd do a single query to pull it all at once. You can also make good use of joins and conditions, which you can't do with BioDB or NBDE.
