I'm a rank novice at both NWNX and Windows Server, so kindly bear with me.
I've a Windows Server 2008 box that I'd like to run a NWN dedicated server with NWNX on; that way other admins can log into it and update/restart as necessary. However, I haven't been able to find anything about running NWNX as a service, bar a few rather old threads indicating lack of support.
Obviously it's important to run it as a service so that it isn't necessary for someone to be logged onto the machine for the server to run, and for it to come back automatically after a reboot/crash.
What are the solutions and/or workarounds that people have used for this? |

NWN/NWNX don't need to run as a service to run automatically and restart the server. Especially for NWN1/NWNX2, it's not particularly supported, and the recommended approach is to set up automatic login and have your user launch NWNX automatically (whether through an entry in the Startup folder or a registry entry). If it's configured properly, it will start NWN and restart it upon crashing. _________________ Win32 SVN builds: http://www.mercuric.net/nwn/nwnx/
<Fluffy-Kooshy> NWNx plugin is to this as nuclear warheads are to getting rid of fire ants.
<ThriWork> whenever I hear nwn extender, I think what does NWN need a penis extender for? |
