I'm using Windows 7 64 Bit w/o Bitlocker nor User Account Controls...
(Don't worry I have a full image backup, which I make weekly)

I'm wanting to install the NWN Dedicated Server & Use NWNX2 to launch the server, FROM A DIFFERENT DRIVE (than the C: Drive)...

But I'm running into 2 major issues....

1) When I launch nwnx2, it doesn't find the module listed in the nwnx.ini
2) nwnserver.exe will NOT allow anyone to login...
(Reads idle: login disabled)

However, when I do the same from the C: drive, there are NO problems..

The only thing I can think of is, nwnx2 isn't setup to run from a different drive, or something is missing in the nwnx.ini, not sure what the problem is to be honest...

Solutions I have tried...

Set User Credentials to Full control for ALL USERS for the entire drive and ALL of the files on that drive.... (problem not solved)

I've ensured that nwnserver.exe was authorized to pass the firewall...

Any help please?

I run NWNX and nwserver from an external drive without any problems, and I am also a Windows 7 x64 user (professional edition).

There are a few registry keys that mention the installation path, although for the most part, the NWN-portion of the windows registry is not bad at all, and NWNX afaik doesn't use it at all.

Search your registry for data 'C:\your\old\path\to\NWN' and replace the entires to drive/path combination that you desire.

Try that first and see if you are having problems still.

The problem I'm having is the server will NOT post to the internet, I do not know what is wrong mate... The server runs, but login is disabled...

I'm not really wanting to edit my registry, however your "C:\your\old\path" advice is of very little help, I have no clue what you are talking about.... Unless of course it's "needed"...

You say in short, "I had no problem, my server works fine from another drive, you should fix your registry to point to the path"...

That's almost NO help at all mate...

No offense, but seriously you need to give more information & help if you truly want to help me, because what you said helps me none. Sad

After I installed nwnx_cool, now even my server from the actual C: drive isn't working either now.. meh!

I'm ready to just give up and do a fresh install, maybe that will help me..
bah!

He provided you with the relevant info for your OS but forgot to mention to check all the stuff nwnx will use as different packages cause issues (i.e. you may not have the 32bit odbc libraries, but think that just means server works any db stuff won't).

Obviously I'm missing something, but thanks for "trying" to help...

I'm definitely NOT messing with my registry...

As I actually want to play my game from the C: Drive...

I was wanting to run NWN Dedicated Server from another drive...

And it's NOT working...

If you can figure that out for me, post something beneficial please...

Show your nwnx.ini config.
Does it work if you choose and load the module in nwserver window manually after launching nwnx?

Here is some more information that is probably of no use to you mate..

But it will effect this:
Quote:

The problem I'm having is the server will NOT post to the internet

Ports 5120 through 5129 outgoing
Ports 5121-5300 incoming

Also ports mainly used by Gamespy (some no longer in use): 6667, 80, 27900, 28900, 29900, 29901, 13139, 6500

Even with a proper game install and correct NWNX setup, you'll have problems logging in unless your firewall settings are corectly configured.

Good luck.
