I was curious to know if anyone or any group/team has ever considered developing a standardized, open source system that could be adopted across multiple servers that could use NWNX. I've played on multiple NWN servers and found different crafting systems that use NWNX to store information like ingredients to craft items, etc. Would it be a good idea to form a team to build a crafting system that would allow players to craft items, but a system that could be customized depending on items or ingredients/recipes. And it wouldn't be only for crafting, but for PC merchants or whatever.
I've looked through the neverwintervault.org site, and found different projects written by different developers. However, would it be worth it to create an entirely new standard that has been written, tested, and bug-fixed by a community of programmers (similar to how Linux is supported my countless developers)?
A system that could be adopted by any other server owner/developer that works pretty much the same way across all servers. Has something like this ever been attempted? |

Standartisation is not something you can achieve here in this community. Nor is standartization appear to be appealing globally. Just look at open source developing hubs - today its all about forks... _________________ Community Patch / NWNX Patch / NWNX Files / NWNX Connect |

Pretty much what he said....
I have a crafting system that's based on local variables on items(which can be set through toolset rather than code if desired), but that's about as standardized you can get. |
