So I'm looking for a host for my pw. I'm ready to get it launched. Using nwnx4 with a mysql database. My problem? No (good) server host wants to let me run a mysql database on the same machine as my server.
One place does have a webhosting option for fairly cheap and that option gives you a mysql database (though it is on another machine, different from the dedicated server). I'm wondering if nwnx4 can work with a database on another machine? Would this case lag or something crazy? Is this feasible? |

Works fine with nwnx2 and a LAN, can't see why nwnx4 would be any different.

I ran nwnx1 with the mysql database on a different subnet; even with very heavy database usage, there were no lag problems.
I wouldn't figure you'd have any problems, if it were on the same LAN . If over the web -- well, if you use the database judiciously, it should also be fine. _________________ Khalidine, a NWN2 persistent world

@melchoir55
A host who let you install nwn2 but not mysql ?
That sounds a bit strange for me.
Are you really sure you are allowed to install NWN2 ?
You need a windows server with full access, so you can install any software you want by your own.
If you haven't full access , would that mean that the host has to install NWN2 and also all the coming patches.
I doubt any normal host will do that ! _________________ xaltos
