I do not seem to be getting an automatic restart of the server when I call the reset script in game. It shuts down nicely though. 
I am running Ubuntu, with reset plugin and a few others as well. Any thoughts?

Use a shell script for auto-restart.
Despite its title, Reset plugin just shuts nwserver down. |

Ok, so I need to have that while loop running to check for instances of nwserver then?
